padBoat Building Methods

The aluminum plates are water-jet cut to exact dimensions and assembled in our state-of-the-art factory. Our team of expert craftsmen first spot-weld the plates together as the boat takes shape. It is then placed on a full scale jig where welding in earnest takes place.

Sides, bottom, gunwale, stringers, self-bailing deck, and gunwale-deck all are welded using the best materials and technologies available. An aluminum internal fuel tank is placed beneath the self bailing deck and acts as a double safety. Should the hull be pierced at any time, your fuel cell will remain intact, both saving the environment and enabling you to get home.

The boat, now 80% complete is then hung in an acid shower to remove all of the smoke and unsightly residue left during the welding process. Out comes a beautiful and clean hull ready for final assembly. We next place your optional components including; rodholders, coolers, leaning post, etc.

Finally, we inject pressurized closed cell foam into the below deck cavities and the gunwale decks to ensure both unsinkability and upright flotation. The non-skid coating to the deck completes the boat.

We are fortunate to be located only a stones throw from the Boeing plant and the world’s largest pool of highly trained aluminum builders and fabricators. Our least experienced welder has 17 years experience behind a MIG gun. Two recent customers include a welder in Massachusetts, and an engineer in Florida who inspects welds for a living. Like these two gentlemen, those who know welding say our welds are among the very best they have ever seen.
